Introduction to * MAHATMA * Box Charkha
Traditional Model
Speed Wheel: This is a smaller wheel with a pulley fitted below it. It is placed on the axel with a slide plate. This wheel is connected with the bigger wheel using a thick cotton string. Charkha Holder Plate: This is a wooden plate to fix on the body of the Charkha. Winder Base Plate: Is used to assemble a winder by inserting the steel rods in the holes provided. Spindle Stand: This is a Spindle stand, which holds the Spindle while you spin. Necessary slots have been made in the backside part to hold the Spindle. A set of fly nut-washer and bolt used for fixing the spindle stand is provided. The bolt is fitted in the lower part of the box and the stand. The bottom plate is adjusted and fixed with the fly nut provided. The slot is used to adjust the tension of the thin string attached between the spindle on the spindle stand and speed wheel. This string is made out of strong twisted yarn of cotton
Winder Steel Rods: Inserting these four rods in a winder base plate assembles a winder.
What is Inside?
Axel for placing the Big Wheel: This is an Axel that is used to place a Bigger Wheel on. The axel is fitted to the bottom of the box. Slide Plate with an Axel for placing a Speed Wheel: This is a Slide Plate having an axel for fixing Speed Wheel. A spring has been provided below the axel for providing the required tension. Please note the slot that is provided in the base plate for adjusting the distance.

Big Wheel: This is bigger wheel having a triangular knob for rotating. It is placed on the axel fitted on the base of the box that gives motion to the Speed Wheel.
